Sean's Wild Takes

We're doing group work stuff at school, and that's boring, so naturally I procrastinated, by animating Sean doing a couple of wild takes.

I am super proud of how these came out, and I felt necessary to always top the last one I did... since I ended the angry one by 'jumping the shark'... and blowing up the world... I decided to quit there - I can't top that!!

May as well tell you a little about this guy - I have nothing better to do.

This is Sean (the 'S' in BAS'C) he's super smart, over the top and just loves to have fun and play around - he's not used to being outside of his laboratory, so social interaction is new and exciting to him, but, obviously, is naive to it all. He's like a child, really!

The gimmick behind Sean is that he can't talk - he's a mute! and communicates through charades which he uses his cartoony powers to do. (I think you get an understanding of his powers through the gifs, so I wont bother writing about that)

Well now that I've written such a witty description for this post, I may as well tell you why I am posting all these pictures today. You see, I am incredibly shy yet somehow the most nonchalant person on the planet.
Today was the first class for the acting course that is (unfortunately) part of my animation course, and when it was announced, yesterday, I couldn't do any work, I couldn't hold my tablet pen, I COULD BARELY BREATH!! this was one of the rare occasions where I am actually stressed out!! So I drew a whole heap of (what I consider) fun drawings to get my mind of the acting course.

I did all of these drawings (from the Whiny Babies post) yesterday and this morning.

i figured a picture of the most stressed out cartoon character i know would be the most fitting post to mention this on haha,

Ugly Colour Palettes

A friend of mine made a challenge to 'Make something aesthetically pleasant using the ugliest colour palettes' (shown on the picture below).

It was an interesting challenge, but here is what I came up with:

I quite like the first, third and fourth designs, and I may use the last colour bar one as a character in the BAS'C project, I still haven't gotten around to explaining on here.

My LoopDeLoop Entry

i'm sure your wondering, "oi! hoo dat?" well, my illiterate friend, that there is Bryn - he is one of the four heroes of BAS'C (the web cartoon i mentioned, 2 posts ago) But I'll get to that, just expect to see him pop up a lot on this blog!!

Dog Mascot Design

So at the beginning of this week, my school presented us with a competition to design a dog to be the  mascot for a company, that I forgot the name of.
There was also a large amount of money to be the prize - but I don't care enough to remember how much it was.

Anyway, I've decided to do something nifty with my doggy mascot design! you see, back in 2003, when I was 9, I started to really get into cartoons - So much so, that I made hundreds upon thousands of totally unoriginal characters with even less creative names, Hood-Boy was one of these characters!! maybe, someday, I'll post a 2003/2013 comparison of the.... holly crap!! I just noticed it's been exactly ten years when I decided to redesign him... I swear that was a coincidence!!
Sorry, got off track.... so one of the very first of the many unoriginal characters, I made, was this dog character called.... this is going to be very embarrassing... 'Woof-Woof'... yeah, that's what Mini Bryn decided to call him.

anyway, I just gave Woof-Woof 3 nice, spiffy little redesigns in hopes that he can get this job as a Mascot for the company I still can't remember the name of. Here they are:

who am I? WHO AM I!?!?

My name is Bryn Kettle. I go by the internet alias of Hood-boy

I am an animator - at the moment I am doing an animation course at college, but I do a  bit of freelancing in my spare time (well, I would if I could get commissions for anything)

I'm actually in the process of making a web cartoon, an ambitious one, at that! it's called BAS'C and it's about 3 really cartoony characters and one totally normal guy - it's really fun, and I've been going about it all professionally - I've made a pilot, a pitch bible and some model sheets - I've only been pitching it to my friends, as a test audience. at the moment I am working on the story boards for the first 3 episodes.

I don't know what else to share... I barely even know what I intend to use this blog thing for. maybe a dump for my doodles and other art? maybe a place to put all my animations? maybe I'll share my life story (disclaimer: I'm not going to share my life story), but what ever the purpose may be, I intend to have fun with this!!
